i am gerippe unsterblich and i make films. but i’m not telling you anything that you don’t already know.

the aim of my work is to create visually striking narratives that stray off the beaten path of conventional storytelling.

in my creative process, i strive to constantly challenge my audience and myself. i enjoy art that takes me off balance, and i enjoy making art that takes others off balance. to achieve that, it’s always do or die for me — sometimes to a fault and against my better judgment.

i dare to do things differently. i dare to not compromise. i dare taking the radical approach. all while staying as curious, as open-minded and as considerate towards my collaborators as humanly possible.

behind the pseudonym gerippe unsterblich (german for the undying skeleton) lurks marcel, a self-taught genre filmmaker and photographer as well as professionally trained camera actor - that's me! hello there! 

after successfully graduating from acting school in 2019, i decided to put the knowledge i had acquired to good use — only behind the camera instead of in front of it.

in 2025, i released my debut short film ‘piecemeal’ (co-written and co-directed by maxie le dévéhat), which screened at renowned genre film festivals throughout germany and worldwide the year before.

i'm primarily based in hamburg, germany — but i never shy away to venture all over the place if it means i'll find inspiration or interesting people to collaborate with!
