photography, although not the main focus of my creative work, is very near and dear to my heart. it was the first medium in visual storytelling that i tried my hand at.
initially as a model for a photographer friend who would bring me in whenever he had in mind a peculiar idea, an odd little experiment, a curious set-up or anything else out of the ordinary.
we would dabble with light & shadow, atmosphere, mise en scène and characters, telling our own short stories in small series of images, learning a lot about storytelling itself in the process.
and then i picked up my first camera.
i knew immediately that analogue photography would become my hobbyhorse - the deceleration, the awareness, the conceptualisation it takes to not waste an image on a roll of film immediately appealed to me. and it still does.
since I took up analogue photography, i have had the pleasure and privilege of photographing various friends who are all artists in their own right, drawing from their expertise and perspective to continue to create small but intricate stories via every single photograph.
if you're reading this and think i should shoot you or someone you know, drop me a line!
